A delegation from SUT’s Center for Philosophy of Science paid a visit to SPBU

On Friday, Nov. 22, a delegation of Sharif University of Technology (SUT) faculty members, consisting of Dr. Ebrahim Azadegan, Head of the Philosophy of Science group, Dr. Hassan Hosseini, and Dr. Arash Abazari visited the Institute of Philosophy of Saint Petersburg University (SPBU).

They attended a workshop named “Theoretical on Applied Ethics: Traditions and Perspectives 2019”, in which Dr. Azadegan gave a lecture.

During this two-day visit, the SUT delegation met with SPBU Institute of Philosophy’s officials, Dr. Sergey Dudnik & Dr. Tigran Tumanian, where they discussed the establishment of joint master’s degree program in philosophy, holding joint summer and winter schools, and student and faculty mobility programs in philosophy.

It is worth mentioning that SUT and SPBU have signed an MoU in 2018 which has been implemented in terms of student/faculty mobility, joint research initiatives, and summer school programs.

An Academic Delegation from Swiss in Sharif

May 7, 2018: An academic delegation from Switzerland, consisting of representatives from Swiss National Science Foundation, Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation, Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, Institute for Systems and Applied Electronics, Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute, University of Geneva Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research, and Zurich University of Applied Sciences paid a visit to Sharif.

After a brief introduction by H.E. Dell’ Ambrogio, State Secretary for Education, Research and Innovation of Switzerland, some important academic Activities of SUT and Swiss Universities were introduced by Prof. Mokhtari, Director of Industrial Relations, SUT, Dr. Peter Richner, Deputy CEO, Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology, Dr. Moghim, UNESCO Chair in Water and Environment Management for Sustainable Citites, SUT, Dr. Alexandre Hedjazi, Executive Director International Affairs and Senior Lecturer, Institute of Environmental Sciences, Dr. Vahid Hosseini, Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at SUT and CEO of Tehran Air Quality Control Co. (AQCC) and Dr. Roberto Gardenghi, Senior Researcher, Institute for Systems and Applied Electronics.

After this meeting, the delegation visited SUT’s Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (INST), Bio Engineering and Health Systems Research Center (BEHSRC), Microfluidics Lab and Sharif Technology Services Complex and had a meeting with the professors and officials of these departments. Based on the visits and conversations, the parties expressed that there seems to be a huge potential for expanding collaborations between SUT and Swiss Universities throughout scientific exchanges, mobility grants, bilateral programmes and joint projects between the universities.

Mohsen Masihi, Professor of Petroleum Engineering

Director

Mohsen Masihi is the director of International Affairs, Sharif University of Technology. He received B.Sc. (1993; Petroleum University of Technology, I.R. Iran), M.Sc. (1995; Tehran University, I.R. Iran) and Ph.D (2006; Imperial College London, UK). He holds the rank of distinguished Researcher, Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering, SUT in 2011; 2014. He also holds experience of being visiting professor (2015; Imperial College London, UK) . His other experience includes being founder and director of Sharif Upstream Petroleum Research Institute (2013-2015; SUT), and vice-chair for Research and International Affairs, Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering (2018-2021; SUT)

 

Dr. Ahmad Sharbatoghlie

Director of Strategy

Dr. Sharbatoghlie is director of strategy at the Office of International Affairs. Prior to joining the IA office in 2015, for sixteen years he was a lecturer, project manager, and systems consultant in the United States. After returning to Iran in 2003, he served as a faculty member of the Graduate School of Management and Economics and Dean of the Language Center at Sharif University of Technology. He holds an M.C.P. degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Boston College.

 

Ms. Maryam Bilbaso

Secretary

Ms. Bilbaso received her Bachelor’s degree in Management from Islamic Azad University, North-Tehran branch. She joined the office recently and is in charge of all clerical and administrative works of the office such as daily correspondence and document storage. Before joining the IA office, she worked for five years at the secretariat of Sharif presidency office.

 

Mr. Morteza Maghsoudi

Administrator

Mr. Maghsoudi joined the office in 2011 as an administrator and is in charge of visa applications.

 

Mr. Hamed Amanollahi

Graphic Designer

Hamed Amanollahi got his M.A. in Graphic Design from Tehran University of Art. He joined the IA Office in 2019. He is an expert in digital visual effects and motion graphic software, namely, Adobe After Effects, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, CorelDraw, etc.
As a professional designer, Hamed is in sole-charge of creating visual graphic content (designing infographic, poster, logo, catalog, brochure, sheet, and animation), Photojournalism, film shooting, direction, production, and editing for the English website of SUT (www.en.sharif.edu), SUT LinkedIn page, and IA Office of Sharif University of Technology.

 

Mr. Amirhossein Mousavi

Ranking and Branding Expert

Mr. Mousavi is the ranking and branding expert at SUT’s International Affairs Office. He is in charge of managing all the tasks regarding the elevation of SUT’s ranking in highly reputed ranking systems such as QS and Shanghai. He also coordinates strategies for developing methods of creating a modern identity for SUT’s brand. He joined in 2021 and holds a Master’s degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) from Sharif University of Technology.

 

Ms. Sondos Hosseinisefat

Head of Administration (International Student’s Office)

Sondos Hosseinisefat joined SUT in 2000. She got her M.A. in Linguistics from Payame Noor University. Sondos is a multilingual person who is proficient in Kurdish, Arabic, and English in addition to Persian. Initially, she worked for the Foreign Purchasing Department which was followed by the start of her journey in the International Student’s Office as the head of administration. She is in charge of guiding and recruiting international students (documentation), international contacts and relations of ISO, active cooperation with the Ministry of Science and Technology (MSRT) regarding international student’s affairs, management and holding short training courses, attending international exhibitions for student recruitment. With two decades of experience in SUT, Sondos considers herself as a SUT family member and works with enthusiasm to provide high-quality services for international students.

 

Ms. Atefe Zare

Atefe Zare got her B.A. in English Translation from Imam Khomeini International University and was accepted as an M.A. student in Allameh Tabataba’i University. She joined International Students’ Office (ISO) in 2017. She is in charge of guiding and recruiting international students. She is also in sole-charge of financial affairs regarding international students’ tuition fees and short training courses. Moreover, she is responsible for students’ consular affairs such as visa application, students’ residency, and their exit visa application. If you are an international student in SUT or even an applicant, she’ll be there to give you a hand as a SUT family member.
