International Staff

International faculty and post-doc recruitments are done by the relevant departments. You may contact the International Affairs’ Office (ia@sharif.edu) or the relevant research group and department for more information.

We invite international researchers and faculty to visit the university and its research facilities. International post-docs, faculty on sabbatical, and visiting researcher who are interested in spending time in our labs can join our exciting teams and get involved in cutting edge research while experiencing life in Iran’s capital city.

International researchers may apply to the Erasmus-Marhaba program which is a consortium consisting of European, Iranian, Iraqi and Yemeni universities. The Erasmus Mundus program funds the project. Faculty members are also among the beneficiaries of the program. For more information you may visit (http://www.usc.es/marhaba) or email us at International Affairs Office (ia@sharif.edu).

Student Exchange Programs

There are many opportunities for students to complete part of their degree program abroad. The International Affairs Office facilitates the process of studying abroad through a number of programs. The Marhaba project intends to encourage PhD students to pursue a sabbatical leave in European countries. This program funds the students for a fixed period of time while they are abroad.

Sharif also has joint degree programs with Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, University of Grenoble, France and University of Waterloo, Canada. Doctoral students may take part of in these programs, which entails spending a period of up to two years in the host university.

There are a number of other programs, which facilitate sabbatical leaves and/or joint degrees for master and PhD students. These are not typically funded but it is possible to apply for funding and scholarships from external partners.

International Affairs Office also supports programs that are initiated by students in order to conduct their research or sabbatical leaves. In other words, efforts to start collaborations with universities abroad are welcomed and supported by the office.

Faculty Sabbaticals

For the time being, the only program facilitating the sabbatical leaves of faculty members at Sharif University of Technology is the Marhaba Project (http://www.usc.es/marhaba).
