A Delegation from Australian Trade and Investment Commission Visited Sharif University of Technology

On Wednesday, February 13, 2019, Mr. Mounir Sankary, the Australian Embassy’s Trade Commissioner visited SUT with the aim of expanding mutual cooperation.During his visit a meeting was held in the presence of Dr. Simchi, the Dean of International Affairs of SUT, two faculty members from Mechanical Department and Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering and a representative of IMIDRO Company.

During the meeting a short account was given on the current measures taken to broaden the scientific and technological cooperation between Sharif University of Technology and Australian counterparts. Facilitating the participation of academic elites in scientific gatherings and regular visits of Iranian university presidents to Australian universities and higher education institutions were among the topics discussed at the meeting. The first visit by SUT president is agreed upon to be organized in the upcoming May. Finalizing a MoU for cooperation in the field of mineral industries in the foreseeable future was another topic of discussion during the meeting.

It is worth mentioning that currently eight Iranian companies are collaborating with Australia in the field of mineral industry.

A Delegation from the University of Sabançi at Sharif University of Technology

Dr. J.B.G. FRENK and Dr. Kemal Cliç of the Turkish University of Sabançi attended the Faculty of Industrial Engineering of SUT to hold a workshop on “On the End of Life-Inventory Problems“. The delegation also met with the dean of International affairs, Dr. Simchi, at the IA office with the aim of expanding institutional cooperation between SUT and Sabancı University and the parties expressed their interest in establishing a clear framework for faculty and student exchange programs. As agreed in the meeting, the details of possible partnerships will be scrutinized and finalized in the foreseeable future.

It is worth mentioning that Sharif University of Technology has signed MoUs with eight Turkish universities, seven of which have been operationalized in the form of faculty and student exchange, mobility programs and mutual enterprises.

A Delegation from Sweden Embassy in Sharif

The diplomatic delegation from the Embassy of Kingdom of Sweden in Tehran, visited Sharif University of Technology

The diplomatic delegation from the Embassy of Sweden in Tehran, led by Ms. Helena Sångeland the Ambassador of Sweden to Iran, Ms. Veronica Nordlund Second Secretary and Mr. Soheil Rahgozar business adviser, visited Sharif on Jan 16, 2018. On the other side, Prof. Fotuhi, President of Sharif University, Prof. Simchi, Head of International Affairs, Prof. Jahed Head of International Students of Sharif University of Technology, played host to the delegation.

The delegation first had a meeting in the international affairs office. Beginning the meeting, Prof. Fotuhi gave a short introduction to Sharif University of Technology. He also discussed the opportunities of cooperation with Swedish Institutes. Following the meeting, Prof. Simchi explained the background of collaborations with Swedish institutes and describe the potential of extending such activities. Then Prof. Jahed also mentioned some critical point for collaboration with Swedish higher education institutes. Afterward the ambassador described her points of view in term of extending cooperation and developing future collaborations from both sides. She stated that academic collaboration with Iran is most welcome by Sweden and expressed her desire that the number of collaborations between the countries grows steadily. After the meeting, the delegation visited several part of the university including Sharif Technology Services Complex.

It is worth mentioning that the Iranian Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology has already signed the MOU with Sweden ministry of education and research of the Kingdom of Sweden.

Sharif University of Technology attended the Special Exhibition on the Capabilities of Iran’s Universities in Salahaddin University-Erbil, Iraq

 

More than 50 representatives of Iranian prestigious universities and educational institutions, attended the Educational Fair held in the Salahaddin University. The exhibition which took place on 19th and 20th December 2018 in Erbil the capital of Kurdistan Regional Government, was well received by visitors. The professors and officials from Iraqi universities along with their students who visited the exhibition had complete understanding of the capabilities of SUT and most of them have expressed a willingness to cooperate with or enroll at Sharif University of Technology.

Beside the exhibition, workshops of nanotechnology, biotechnology, technical and vocational training, and shared research programs were also held simultaneously. The fair was attended by Dr. Yusuf Goran the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Ebadi, the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Erbil, Dr. Dizeyî the President of Salahaddin University, Dr. Idris Hadi the President of Koya University and Dr. Alizadeh, the Representative of the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology.

An Academic Delegation from Swiss in Sharif

May 7, 2018: An academic delegation from Switzerland, consisting of representatives from Swiss National Science Foundation, Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation, Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, Institute for Systems and Applied Electronics, Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute, University of Geneva Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research, and Zurich University of Applied Sciences paid a visit to Sharif.

After a brief introduction by H.E. Dell’ Ambrogio, State Secretary for Education, Research and Innovation of Switzerland, some important academic Activities of SUT and Swiss Universities were introduced by Prof. Mokhtari, Director of Industrial Relations, SUT, Dr. Peter Richner, Deputy CEO, Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology, Dr. Moghim, UNESCO Chair in Water and Environment Management for Sustainable Citites, SUT, Dr. Alexandre Hedjazi, Executive Director International Affairs and Senior Lecturer, Institute of Environmental Sciences, Dr. Vahid Hosseini, Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at SUT and CEO of Tehran Air Quality Control Co. (AQCC) and Dr. Roberto Gardenghi, Senior Researcher, Institute for Systems and Applied Electronics.

After this meeting, the delegation visited SUT’s Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (INST), Bio Engineering and Health Systems Research Center (BEHSRC), Microfluidics Lab and Sharif Technology Services Complex and had a meeting with the professors and officials of these departments. Based on the visits and conversations, the parties expressed that there seems to be a huge potential for expanding collaborations between SUT and Swiss Universities throughout scientific exchanges, mobility grants, bilateral programmes and joint projects between the universities.
